Here is a stunning and nicely heavy glass inkwell by Sengbusch. I believe it received a patent for its "self closing" insert. The inkwell measures approximately 3" tall by 4" wide. The inkwell is very stable and heavy. This bad boy will not tip over with an accidental bump.
I believe the top is bakelite, and most likely the inkwell portion. I can not get the inkwell insert out, but did faithfully try. However, I have seen pictures of this inkwell taken apart, so it is possible to do so.
The bottom has No 55 imprinted in the glass. There are no chips within the glass. The top of the inkwell does show wear for its age. This inkwell was made around the early 1900s!
